Information about the IDEC's Support Center
and its functions and activities
In December 27th 2005, the Geographic Information Law, conferred the functions of creation, diffusion, organization and maintenance of Catalonias Spatial Data Infrastructure to the Institut Cartogrāfic, and included into its chapter 5, which regulates the Infrastructure, the Support Center as a technical organization to promote, exploit and maintain the SDI. The Support Center is a Unit of the ICC.
The IDEC's Support Center is the technical basis for the organization, promotion, exploitation and maintenance of the spatial data infrastructure, with the purpose of promoting geo-information and related services, making them more accessible in order to assure their shared use.
The C.S. IDEC's activities emphasize the next action lines:
| - Development of the functions which in accordance with regulations, are entitled to the Support Center. |
| - Difussion, promotion and spreading of the Infrastructure. |
| - The participation / collaboration in several activities from other organisms and, specially, the monitoring of the INSPIRES Guideline's development. |
